Why HLG

More Than a Walk in the Park

Assessing how animals move is my profession. I am a Masters Qualified and RAMP Registered Veterinary Physiotherapist, and that eye comes with me on every walk and every visit — how your dog rises, how they turn, whether they’re weight-bearing evenly, whether they’re quite themselves today.

Animals hide discomfort well. By the time an owner spots a limp, the problem has usually been building for a while. The early signs are subtle: hesitating at the car boot, stiff for the first few minutes after a nap, sitting with one leg kicked out. Those are the things I notice — and if I do, I’ll tell you.

I won’t diagnose anything; your vet is the right person for that. But I’ll explain plainly what I’ve seen and help you understand what to ask them, so you walk into the surgery knowing exactly what to say.

The same care your pet deserves, with a professional eye watching over them. At no extra cost.

A Walk With A Purpose

Walks tailored to your dog’s age, fitness and routine — proper exercise, enrichment and good company.

Every walk is private. Your dogs are never mixed with dogs from other households, and there’s no waiting in a van while a pack is collected. If you have more than one, they walk together.

Drop-In Pet Care Visits (1 Hour)

£18 per hour

A Friendly Face While You’re Out

A full hour of undivided attention: feeding, fresh water, medication, litter trays, a little grooming, garden breaks — and plenty of company. You’ll get a photo and a short update afterwards.

Home Comforts While You’re Away

Your animals stay where they’re happiest: in their own home, their own beds, their own routine. No kennels, no cattery, no unsettling car journey.

Feeding, walks, medication, company, and someone there overnight. For anxious animals, elderly pets or those on medication, staying at home is very often the kinder option.

Every stay is quoted individually. Tell me what you need and I’ll give you a straight price.

Experience

From Paws to Hooves

Twelve of my own

I have owned 12 Siberian Huskies and compete for Team GB in sprint sled dog racing.

Huskies are strong, vocal, endlessly energetic and famously strong-willed — and I manage nine of them every day. Very little surprises me. A boisterous puppy, a dog who pulls, a nervous rescue, a large breed with opinions of its own: I’ve handled it all at home long before I arrive at yours.

And many others

Beyond my own pack, I’ve cared for a wide range of animals over the years:

If you have something a little out of the ordinary and you’re struggling to find anyone to take it on, do ask. The answer is usually yes.

My primary base is in Essex, though I’m happy to travel further afield upon request for pet sitting enquiries. Additionally, this map offers a general guide to travel zones — if you’re ever unsure, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to provide a personalised quote.

Please note: Pet sitting appointments involving travel into London, or across the Dartford Crossing, will require a personalised quote. This is due to the Dart Charge / Parking Restrictions and significantly longer journey times. Please get in touch and I’ll be happy to confirm a final price.
